Bird-shaped Basmala بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم on a wall-panel ( Morocco, 2019 )
baraka (divine blessing) animals Sufism mirror
Collection : typefaces & calligraphy
Topic : Arabic and Islamic Typography and Calligraphy
Age/Era :
21st century

The Basmala بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم (In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful) belongs the most often uttered and written Islamic phrases. On this  wall-panel in a private  house in Morocco it has been used to create the shape of birds - or birds have been used to express the phrase if you like. The mirroring hints towards Sufi leanings of the calligrapher/owner.
